Peanut Butter and Chocolate -Perfect Combination, Right? Why not enjoy it throughout your day? Perhaps it should be a new food group ;)

Over the summer I visited Hersheytown, PA with my children. We definitely agreed that Mr. Reese’s Peanut Butter Cup was our favorite character and candy.

I’ve adapted some recipes from the book  The Magic of Peanut Butter by Skippy / Sterling Publishing Co. Inc.

I think these are perfect for this time of year when we want special breakfasts, lunch box treats, and snacks for our families.

PB & Choc. French Toast

You will need:

1/2 cup pb

8 slices of bread

1/2 cup jelly

1/2 cup choc. chips

2 eggs

1/2 cup milk

1 tbsp. butter

1. Spread pb, jelly, and chips on bread to assemble 4 sandwiches.

2. In shallow dish, combine eggs and milk; beat thoroughly. Dip sandwiches into egg mixture.

3. In 12 inch skillet, melt butter over medium heat, lightly bribe sandwiches, turning once.

PB & Chocolate Quesadillas

  You will need:
1/4 cup pb

2 10 inch tortillas

1 banana, sliced

3 tbsp. choc. chips

1. Spread pb on 1/2 of each tortilla. Top with banana, then chocolate.

2. Fold to form quesadillas.

3. In 12 inch skillet, cook quesadillas over medium high heat, turning once, 5 minutes or until golden brown.

Chocolate and PB Tiramisu

3 ounces espresso

Cocoa powder

1. Toss bananas with rum. Set aside in a bowl.

2. In large bowl, blend whipped topping with pb.

3. On a serving platter, arrange lady fingers into 4 rows of 3. Brush each one with espresso.

4. Top lady fingers with 1/2 of the pb mixture, then top with bananas. Brush remaining coffee on bottoms of remaining lady fingers and arrange, top sides up, on bananas.

5. Spread pb on top and sides, then sprinkle with cocoa powder.

6. Chill 30 minutes or until ready to serve. Sprinkle with cocoa powder.

 PB & Chocolate Dipped Strawberries
You will need:

1. 1 cup pb

2. 1 cup chocolate chips

3. 1 quart dipping strawberries

Microwave 1/2 cup peanut butter and chocolate at high, stirring occasionally. 1 1/2 minutes.

Dip strawberries and set on waxed paper lined baking sheets for 30 minutes.

Microwave remaining PB on high for 30 seconds or until melted. Stir, and drizzle over dipped strawberries.

Other ideas for quick snacks :

Frozen Pudding Pops ( just add 1/2 pb to instant pudding and freeze on sticks)

PB Apple Slices

Just slice, spread with pb and be creative 😉

Hope it inspires you to make everyday life a little more fun and colorful 😉 xoxo
