Eco-Friendly Fashion with Aventura and Amazing Game Day Party Appetizers

It is a typical January night in Rhode Island. It’s 28 degrees and the Patriots are taking on the Chiefs tonight in the NFL Playoffs. For those of you who do not know, the Patriots ( or Tom Brady & Co. ) are a BIG DEAL around here. My principal and assistant principal at the school I am currently teaching kindergarten in encouraged us all to wear Patriot logo gear yesterday.

Today, I need to be extra warm but also have extra sparkle ( cheering for Tom) so I am opting for this ‘Clara’ dress from Aventura which is easily found here: http://instagram.com/aventuraclothing Aventura uses organic and sustainable fibers to make fashionable clothing with with low environmental impact. All the eco-friendly dresses from Aventura are ultra soft and flattering, made with organic materials and easily snazzed up for festive occasions.  This dress could be very casual if left unadorned and worn with casual boots, however that’s not my style, even for watching football.

I added a sequin vest and boots, both found at thredup.com, a faux pearl statement necklace from http://dalexandercollections.tictail.com/product/pearl-statement-necklace and bracelets from http://www.alexandani.com/.

My belt was from a cocktail dress in my closet and I picked up the white blouse at Express over 3 years ago.

I live by this quote and admire others who share a bit about themselves through their clothing and accessories. I don’t wear sports motto apparel but I will cheer on my favorite team with a special ensemble (sequins and ‘Cheers’ bracelet set) and of course, special treats.

Whether the Patriots win or lose, I will always support my favorite local team and I will always do my best to make game day special. I was thinking of purchasing this set I saw https://www.aliexpress.com/popular/patriots-bracelets.html for the Super Bowl.

Thank you so much for visiting the blog today. As always, I appreciate your time and attention and hope you found this post worthwhile.

I’d love to hear from you. What are your thoughts on Eco-Friendly Fashion ?  Do you have any kind of Game Day traditions? What types of foods do you find work well when entertaining a crowd of people for a casual event? And lastly, do you prefer sequins or team- logo attire for cheering on your favorite team?

Yours truly,

Jennifer

  1. You are so killing it at the fashion game for this event! I love this style and how you put up different things together! You weren’t scared to do that which really shows and I love it!
As for the recipes, I am definitely not the best cook but I will definitely try one of these whenever I have the good and right time!
    Keep it up, xx

  2. Let’s begin with eco-friendly fashion! I think it’s amazing companies are finally beginning to realize how important this is. Not only small, independent brands, but larger retailers such as H&M as well as their impact on the world of consumption is huge. What we as customers need to do is actually BUY the eco-friendly clothing that is out there instead of heading for the cheapest possible option next to it.

Regarding game nights, that is one thing that yet remains a mystery to me. Despite having lived in the US (and actually getting a HS diploma from there) I never understood the frenzy regarding football. That leaves us with you having to explain it all to me when I come over to have some of your wonderful snacks during a game night. 🙂

    Love,
    Thomas

    • I absolutely agree, my dear, always so wise and reflective Tommy, the options are there and we as consumers need to make responsible choices when purchasing.
Hmmmmm I have no idea about the sports/ football/ game day frenzy as I married into the cult. So when you come over and we share these appetizers we will have to find other things to talk about … we will not find that difficult at all 😉

  3. I think eco-friendly fashion is such an interesting topic to discuss, whether it is new clothing that has little impact on the environment to vintage clothing that is recycled so as not to end up in landfill. There are so many ways we can minimise our own footprint through fashion! I think more people could be educated on how they can help!

  6. While I cannot agree to support Tom & Co, since they are the Colts’ archenemy, I can agree that you look fabulously sparkly and festive!! I love your hair and always love the hats! I’ve missed them!!

  7. This outfit is great. It looks insanely good on you!

I like the idea of eco-friendly fashion. Over here in the UK you can drop off unwanted or worn-out clothes for recycling. Apparently H&M managed to make an entire collection from recycled clothes!

  8. My sister Jenny. Here is essay number 2.
First of all, I had the blessing and honor of seeing this outfit before anyone else. I love this shoot so much! Your dad did an amazing job, and I have to praise him here as well. Now let’s talk about your ever so fab outfit! OMG. YAS, not yes, YAS. Sister, you are dressed to SLAY. I love the sequins on the vest, I love the belt you added, I love the dress, the boots, the hat, I love everything. You are also dressed to attend my concert, lol. All in all, this look is perfect. The way you put these outfits together so quickly is just magical!

Let’s talk about the food. I want to bring up my pats so badly, but i’ll wait til the end. I bet you didn’t know I’m a HUGE Patriots fan, lol. More on that later. The drinks and the appetizers are to die for. I wouldn’t even need to eat anything else. Just whatever is up there, i’ll eat it cause they look amazing.
I love how you are giving some early super bowl inspiration. I’m happy people will get to have some great ideas from you sister.

Lastly, lets talk about our Patriots. I had no idea you are a Pats fan. I LOVE the Patriots, besides my LA Rams, the pats are my team. Tom Brady is everything. I’m so happy that I can now share my love of the pats with someone else, none of my friends here like them, they are all winers fans, lol. Anyways that just made me smile so much tonight, knowing you are a pats fan.

Thank you my sister for another amazing post. I enjoyed spending some time here tonight getting some inspiration and feeling like i’m in the comfort and coziness of your home, with every word you type.
I can not wait for the next post. I’ve already seen some upcoming stuff ya’ll, so in your face fellow fans and readers, lol, jk.
    Love you my sister, Jenny.

    • Thank you so much, my dear brother, Dom. I am once again speechless but I can’t stop smiling at your kindness and never ending support. It’s so fun to have you to share these ideas and looks with before I am ready to post them and I truly appreciate your feedback and extreme enthusiasm!!! I thought of the football party idea because Jim was so excited our Pats made it to the playoffs. I wrote it when everyone was busy watching ( that’s how I got the peace and quiet ) ! I’m seriously so glad you liked it and your feedback makes me want to get busy on writing my next post.
      Lots of love always,

  16. I absolutely adore that this dress is made with organic cotton. Previously, I never took a moment to even think about who is making or what my clothing is made out of. As I’ve grown, I’ve realized just how important that is. My turning point in that was holding a faux fur jacket and having it break my arm out in an extreme rash and I do not have sensitive skin….and also the many many times I’ve gone to buy an item and noticed a ‘WARNING this may cause cancer and reproductive harm’ label on it somewhere. Still working on being even more aware of that! What a great post and you look stunning!
