Make a Statement With Color ( Lots of Color)

The weather may not be cooperating but my wardrobe is in full spring mode and I’ve been craving as many bright colors that I can get my hands on.

You can go colorful head to toe without looking too crazy by wearing different shades in the same palette ( like this assortment of pinks) and varying fabrics ( some silky, some knit, you get the idea) .

The dress is Suzi Chin for Maggy Boutique and I found it on thredUP.com.

Shoes are from kurtgeiger.com.

 Cardigan : Johnlewis.com

Hat: Nordstrom

Glasses: Ray-Ban

Bag: Betsey Johnson ( of course)

Another way to wear beautiful spring colors is to pair pastels and browns. Rich taupe and tan shades allow Easter egg colors to feel more grown up and much more wearable.

This tunic dress is from Bisou Bisou and , of course , I found it on thredUP.com. The necklace is from Jewelry Bean and you can use my code : Fashion20 for 20% off any order.  Earrings are from J.C. Penney.com.

  Shoes are from lanecrawford.com.

Cynthia Rowley Phoebe small leather cross body bag is from gilt.com.

Fireball bracelet and Aegean Ring from lulu avenue.com and sold by @style_by_alana / Instagram.

 Georgelove bracelet from xoox.com.

Glitter Lips coin purse is by Juicey Couture.

And… glitter lips treatment is by Susan Pellegrino of Angelica & Me Hair Salon in Johnston, RI.

Never let your scent be an afterthought. These two fruity, floral scents are a perfect compliment to the carefree, colorful styles of spring.

Daisy by Marc Jacobs is both warm and radiant with pink grapefruit, apricot, freesia and rose.

Capri by Vince Camuto has peach blossoms and violet flowers which reveal a rich mixture of musk and vanilla.

I love how both scents are sophisticated and elegant but not too serious , and more carefree for everyday casual wear.

Thanks so much for checking this out. Hope it was worth your time and attention.

Hope you feel inspired to make a statement with color ( lots of color) this spring.

Yours truly,

Jennifer

Tie-Dye Dresses & Military Inspired Jackets

Whimsical , beachy , bohemian tie- dye prints seem to be making a comback this season. It seems like this is a trend that never truly goes away. It’s kind of like military -inspired jackets. They have been around since the 60’s and continue to be the perfect neutral , but not boring , top layer for any look.

So , why not put them together? I found this Calvin Klein dress at thredUP.com and my first instinct was to get it to wear to the pool and playground during the summer when I’m home with the kids. However, when it came in the mail, a few days later , I didn’t want to wait to wear it so I grabbed my go-to Kensie military jacket , Merona tights, and a big brown belt from Burlington Coat Factory.

So, too many trends in one outfit ? Maybe. Maybe not . Whatever. The point is , I love this dress and I don’t have to wait until  I’m hanging out at the pool or playground to wear it.

Betsey Johnson Style

I’ve loved and admired all things ‘Betsey Johnson’ style ever since my mom took me to her store in Davol Square, located in Providence, RI. I must have been about 8 or 9 years old and fell in love with the whimsical, creative nature of every item. I wore a Catholic School uniform back then and her clothes reminded me of my dance recital costumes. I imagined how cool it would be to wear clothes like that every day. I remember that my mom told me to do a good job in school , work hard , and I would be able to buy any of the beautiful items in the shop.

Betsey Johnson has had continued success for over 45 years in the fashion industry with her original and unique designs. Her trademark look is built on sexy silhouettes, hippie inspired flowing fabrics, whimsical detailing and most importantly, a fabulous fit.

I love these two Betsey Johnson dresses I found  on thredUP and have worn each of them many times.

I put together the following outfits with items available now at betseyjohnson .com.  Any item that is not from that site is otherwise noted.

   Plaid dress from theoutnet.com

White dress is from rebeccataylor.com.

Jeans are from shopharpersbazaar.com. Yellow top is from Glamourous.com.

 Skirt and top from chicwish.com.

 Shirt and shorts from chicwish.com.

My favorite Betsey Johnson accessories have always been her handbags. I love what she has available for this season.

Any simple look can be fabulous with one of these whimsical bags. I especially love the ferris wheel  cross body style.

Shirt and pants are from Sisley.com and scarf is DVF.com.

If you love the Betsey Johnson brand and also love a bargain, you might want to check out thredUP.com for up to 70% off retail prices.  These items are available now:

If you are new to thredUP.com I can send you a link to save additional money off your first order. Leave your text or email in the comments if you are interested.

I am about as equally obsessed with Betsey Johnson quotes as I am with her clothes and accessories. I’ll leave you with just a few of my favorites.

Thank you , as always , for your time and attention. Hope you feel inspired , as Betsey says, to have fun with fashion, and dress to entertain yourself.

Yours truly,

Jennifer

12 Fun Ways to Wear Graphic Tees

Graphic tees have been ubiquitous for a while now, with almost every major clothing store selling them. They can range in price from super-cheap to crazy-expensive but your overall look depends on what you put with them. With a little bit of creativity, some high – low styling, and the right attitude you can take your tee beyond sneakers and jeans.

This look was perfect for Superhero Day at school. I used a blazer to make it a little bit professional but couldn’t resist using bright accessories to really show off the fun vibe of the shirt.

These next two tee shirts are from thredUP. They are Loft brand and I bought them because I couldn’t resist the cute artwork and little pieces of tulle attached. I especially love the darling little puppy in the first one.
I paired them with fun, warm vests so I wouldn’t have to wait for the warm weather to enjoy them.
I put together more outfits using graphic tees from zulily.com, polyvore.com, and modcloth.

The possibilities are endless. After putting all of these outfits together I kind of feel like shopping for more graphic tees.  Where do you find cute tees? Any suggestions ?

Thanks so much , as always , for your time and attention. Hope it was worthwhile and hope you feel inspired to re-style your favorite graphic tee.  If you don’t have a favorite graphic tee , come shopping with me. I’ll find one for you . 😉

Super Cute and Easy Bunny Cakes and Pops

My mom and dad spend a lot of time making sure the holidays are special and memorable for my children. Angelina and William love going to my mom and dad’s house for Easter and love to surprise my parents with handmade treats and crafts for their table.

My mom creates a tablescape with a Beatrix Potter/ Peter Rabbit theme and we add to it with Bunny treats and crafts.

This is the easiest cake to make. We just use a cake mix and follow the directions to prepare 2 8 inch round cakes. We cut one as shown:

and simply assemble and decorate. It’s fun to let the children pick out different candies and frosting every year so they can feel it’s their own creation. They always have a huge discussion while planning and then again once it’s done because they feel they have to claim which piece they will eat first once they bring it to Mama and Papa’s house.

This is another type of bunny cake we tried in the past.

Again , just use a cake mix , cut, assemble , and decorate.

This is super easy and adorable but not Angelina and William’s favorite because there is not a lot of candy involved.

If you are really short on time you don’t even have to bake. Buy cupcakes , assemble , and decorate to make this fun dessert.

A few years ago I was at BJ’s Wholesale Club and became obsessed with this pink cake pop maker.

First of all , you don’t need it. All you have to do is roll up cake and frosting into balls, put them on sticks ,dip into melted chocolate, and add candy bunny ears to make these appealing little bunny pops.

And if you do have the candy ears you have to try these cupcakes. I think these are great to bring to a classroom party or when visiting around this time of year.

We always make traditional Easter Eggs but we turn them into little bunnies and chicks by cutting up a paper towel roll and decorating. These make nice place cards for the table.

We just write names on the top on the eggs with a permanent marker. It’s super important for Angelina and William to place these on the table because they must insure seats next to my sister (Auntie Kim). Also, William makes sure he has access to the bread and lamb shaped butter at all times.

Thanks so much for your time and attention , as always.

It’s been quite awhile since I wrote my last recipe/ craft type blog post.I just thought maybe it might be helpful if anyone was looking for an easy and fun activity to do with kids this week.

Yours truly,

Jennifer

Transitioning From Winter To Spring Fashionably

Transitioning from winter to spring fashionably can be challenging. The weather is often unpredictable this time of year so planning what to wear can be challenging. Also, at this time of year we are seeing so many new trends and fresh colors that it can be overwhelming to know what works for you.

One easy way to take your wardrobe into spring is to layer with light weight garments and sheer thin scarves. They can be excellent tools and versatile enough to work as wardrobe staples so you get good mileage for your cost.

I paired this INC International Concepts dress ( found at thredUP) with a lightweight scarf from Target.

It’s also nice , at this time of year, to use a bag with a nice pop of spring color like this Belle Helene Bag in Pantone Serenity Blue from Bagavond Everyday Luxury Bags.

I found this pretty necklace called the ‘Jasmin’ at Chico’s.

These bangles are all from Alex & Ani.

The Arrows of Friendship Charm Bangle

The Pineapple Rafaelian Bangle

The Charity by Design Sweet Treats Ice Cream Cone Bangle

This bracelet was made especially for me by Kay&Star. They are a mother – daughter design team and this is part of their One Little Word Tassel collection.

Thanks so much for your time and attention.

I’ve enjoyed and look forward to seeing how all of you fabulous fashionista friends are transitioning from winter to spring fashionably.

Dazzle Into Spring

There were lots of flora and fauna inspired pieces all over the runways for Spring 2016. I loved the iridescent flowers in Anna Sui ‘s collection. It seems like lots of designers have used floral patterns and jewel-toned colors for the upcoming season.

When I saw this necklace from jewelrybean / ilymix.com I thought it would be a great way to add sparkle for spring and also , great for today , St. Patrick’s Day , to wear with a simple green dress. On days like this I like to look festive , not like I’m wearing a costume.

The necklace inspired  me to create more outfits using items from polyvore.com.

I will be sharing other accessories from jewelrybean / ilymix.com. I’ve been really impressed with their selection and quality of merchandise. Hope you get a chance to check our their site. Look back here for special discounts. To purchase any item now at 20% off – use my code : Fashion20 .

Thanks, as always , for your time and attention. It is appreciated.

The “Tizzie” from Dizzy Lizzy

I love this bright tunic I found at thredUP.com. I adore the bright coral color and  bold pattern woven within the  fabric. It is originally from dizzylizzy.com and called a “Tizzie”.

I added leggings this morning to make it a little more comfortable teaching in Room 3. Thanks , Jen Pierce, for the fabulous photography skills ;).

Tizzie shirts have a pullover button neck, collar and long sleeves with a tab to make 3/4 length sleeves. They are 100% cotton and should be hand-washed.
There are many cute patterns available from dizzylizzy.com for Spring 2016. They are usually priced at about $100-$120.

There are a couple available now at thredup.com for about $20.00 each.

If you never shopped at thredUP and would like to purchase one of these tops, or any item, comment with your email or text and I will send you a link worth $10.00 towards your purchase.

I also wanted to let you know that this necklace is available from @style_by_alana on Instagram. It is called the Beach Pebble and is a four layered statement necklace with shimmery reconstituted stones , glass, and acrylic beads in worn gold.

One more thing… I seem to be drawn to cute little bags with puppies and birds lately. This is actually a make-up bag ( Kate Spade/ polyvore.com). It honestly doesn’t fit much but it’s too cute to throw in a bigger bag, so I’ve just got the basics with me today – lipstick ,iPhone , gum , Fancy Love purse spray 😉.

Thanks for visiting the blog. Hope you found this post worthwhile.

Glitter Lips | Review

Last week I walked into Angelica & Me Hair Salon with normal make up and came out with super eye-catching Glitter Lips!

Glitter Lips are something that I’ve never really heard of before now. Susan Pellegrino, owner and hair stylist extraordinaire, over at Angelica & Me Hair Salon (Killingly Street , Johnston, RI) asked me if I wanted to try them when I was there for a quick blowout.
Glitter Lips are a new non- toxic treatment available for only $5.00 an application. There are a wide range of colors to choose from. I tried the palest pink last Tuesday and a brighter golden shade on Saturday.

Of course , when I was at the salon with Susan again tonight, I just had to test out the bright pink Glitter Lips.

It takes about 5 minutes for Susan to apply and the best thing about this treatment is that it can last up to 8 hours!  You can eat and drink and there is no need for any touching up. I think this makes Glitter Lips the perfect thing for a special event or any day you just feel like you want to shine!

To remove Glitter Lips it’s suggested to use an oil-based remover such as baby oil, but I found a simple make-up wipe did the trick just fine!

Experimenting with make-up can be really fun and Glitter Lips feel like an extra special accessory which I will definitely look forward to wearing again.

Have any of you tried this treatment before ? If not , would you ? I think you’ll love it 😉.

Thanks so much , as always , for your time and attention.

Yours truly,

Jennifer
